Our mission is as follows:
- Understand the political, economic, and religious forces at work in Litchfield County, Connecticut and the state of Connecticut throughout the War of the Rebellion (a.k.a. The American Civil War, War Between the States, and many others),
- Educate the general public about the military role of the 2d Connecticut Volunteer Heavy Artillery Regiment,
- Provide additional research for educators, genealogists, families of descendants, and military history scholars
- Participate in living history demonstrations, encampments, and specific battle reenactments.
The 2d Connecticut Volunteer Heavy Artillery history runs from 1862, when it first mustered as the 19th Connecticut Volunteer Infantry to the end of the war in 1865
